Looks and Talent. All SM Artist are really talented and gorgeous faces, their standards are really high with regards to beauty, you must also be open to the word 'plastic surgery', it's common for Idols to do such.

Most likely they accept Asians, or at least looked like one with pretty face that stands out in the crowd.
Q: Are there any age limits?
There are no age limits. To me, between the age of 15-18 are a good age to audition, that way you won't have to spend a long time training. Jessica (SNSD) spend 7 years training, started at age 11, that totally ruined her teen years. 19 would be too old for SM, but there are some setbacks to it. Like Leeteuk and Heechul of Super Junior, they auditioned at the age of 19, spent 3 years training, and debuted at the age of 21.
